The Guild Jumbo Junior Bass is a compact short scale acoustic bass that offers extremely smooth playability, first-class construction and stage-ready equipment at an extremely tempting price. Despite its handy format, the bass also convinces with an impressively sonorous bass tone that provides the right groove for the next acoustic session.
For the construction of the Guild Jumbo Junior Bass, Guild uses a wooden combination that has been used for traditional double basses for several centuries. Accordingly, the compact four-string has a body of laminated curly maple on which a top of solid Sitka spruce resonates. Thus, the Jumbo Junior Bass delivers a surprisingly mature bass tone with a sonorous bass foundation and silky highs. It is also made of maple and has an ebony fingerboard.
Thanks to the shortened 23.75" scale length (603 mm) and the pleasantly comfortable neck profile, the Guild Jumbo Junior Bass also convinces with an extremely smooth playability, which allows any groove to be easily handled. Furthermore, thanks to the built-in Guild AP-1 pickup system, the acoustic bass is ideally suited for use on stage and in recording studios. Here the system convinces with a natural and dynamic reproduction of the bass tone, which captures every nuance in the game unadulterated. The sound can also be adjusted using volume and tone controls placed inconspicuously in the sound hole.
I love Guild guitars and I was not disappointed with their new Jumbo Junior Bass.
Very well made with a lovely solid and resonant top and good frets.
I wanted a smaller bass to learn on and after much research went for this one.
It has a beautiful old timey look and the gig bag keeps it secure and well protected.
This is a great start for me to hopefully learn something new.
