The MOTU 1248 is a Thunderbolt and USB audio interface with AVB Ethernet port for networking with other AVB audio interfaces. It also offers a very flexible set of inputs and outputs, including ADAT, S/PDIF and word clock I/O, as well as microphone, line, instrument and line outputs. Thus, many channels are available in both digital and analog form. The 1248 Audio Interface can also be used as a standalone mixer with 48 channels. The high quality of the MOTU AVB interface is further enhanced by the 32-bit floating point effects processing with integrated DSP, which has a positive effect on performance. The MOTU 1248 thus offers a well-rounded package of audio interface, on-board effects processing and standalone mixer, all of which are convincing in terms of functionality and user-friendliness.

The MOTU 1248 can also be connected to other AVB audio interfaces via the AVB Ethernet port, as mentioned above. This can be done either by a direct Ethernet cable connection from interface to interface or by using the single available MOTU AVB switch, which can be used to connect more than two MOTU audio interfaces simultaneously. In this way, any number of inputs and outputs can be added to an existing AVB network without much effort. The standalone mixer function of the MOTU 1248 completes the very flexible application profile of the audio interface, as it no longer needs to be controlled directly, but can be remotely controlled via a web app on iPhone, iPad, smartphone, tablet or laptop. In this way, certain parameters can be modified. This feature makes the MOTU 1248 AVB very interesting for mobile applications, such as stage or general live applications. However, it is also very suitable for studios, as it can be easily expanded through the AVB network. Furthermore, it is also well suited for home studios, as it can create excellent audio recordings with its high-quality converters and very good 24-bit/192kHz resolution.

The AVB Audio Interface for every application

Especially the MOTU 1248 audio interface offers a wide range of applications among the AVB network interfaces. This is due to the balanced combination of digital and analog inputs and outputs, which form an excellent basis for modern music production. If expansion is required, additional audio interfaces can be added to the AVB network without having to worry about higher latencies or jitter. The 1248 can also be connected to the host computer via Thunderbolt or USB and works with almost any DAW software. With its standalone mixer function, it is ideal for live gigs and DJ use, but can also be used as an audio interface with high audio recording quality in the studio or home studio.
