After more than 30 years of successful cooperation, Mesa Boogie and Dream Theater string magician John Petrucci decided to develop a signature amplifier together. The result is the Mesa Boogie JP-2C Limited Edition, a tube top based on Petrucci's favorite Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ from the eighties. With 100 watts of power, three channels and two graphic equalizers, it more than meets its high demands in sound, handling and versatility. As a very small limited edition, the amplifier offers a noble "Private Reserve" Riegelahorn front in Oxblood Stain and a plaque signed by John Petrucci and Mesa Boogie founder Randall Smith on the back of the cabinet.
The Mesa Boogie JP-2C Limited Edition offers three independent channels and two 5-band graphic equalizers that can be assigned to each channel individually.
With three channels, the Mesa Boogie JP-2C Limited Edition John Petrucci Signature Head covers a wide sound spectrum between glass clean, creamy overdrive and modern high gain distortion, whereby each channel is perfectly adjustable via an individual tone control. For channels 2 and 3, the "Shred" mode can also be activated, which significantly increases the assertiveness with accentuated highs and emphasized attack. Another special feature of the Mesa Boogie JP-2C Limited Edition are the two graphic 5-band equalizers, which can be assigned to each channel individually and significantly increase the tonal variability.
In addition, the Mesa Boogie JP-2C Limited Edition Head offers an integrated reverb effect based on a tube-driven spring reverberation system with a long reverb spiral for a warm, particularly spacious sound. Three controls on the rear of the aluminium amplifier chassis allow the reverb effect to be adjusted individually for each of the three channels. Other effect devices can also be connected to the amplifier via the tube-driven, serial effect path. All functions of the Mesa Boogie JP-2C Limited Edtion can be controlled either by the included footswitch or MIDI.
The Mesa Boogie JP-2C has an integrated CabClone DI box and can be controlled via MIDI.
The output stage of the Mesa Boogie JP-2C Limited Edition is equipped with four 6L6 tubes and has an output power of 100 watts, which can be reduced to 60 watts if required. Accordingly, the compact top has sufficient volume reserves for the rehearsal room or the large stage. In addition, John Petrucci Limited Edition Amplifiers are equipped with the Mesa Boogie CabClone DI box, which simplifies the removal of the amplifier in the studio or during performances thanks to speaker simulation with voicing options. CabClone also allows the Mesa JP-2C to mute the speaker and connect headphones for silent practice or recording.
