The MPC One G2 from Akai Professional is the second generation of the popular MPC One and offers significantly more processing power and memory. The new MPC3 operating system boastsreduced loading times, fast disc streaming and reliable performance. The 8-core CPU delivers four times the performance of the first generation. Add to that 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, and the MPC One G2 stays ahead of the pack in the long term too! As far as the controls, layout and the crystal-clear 7-inch multi-touch display are concerned, the G2 is identical to its predecessor.
By combining a sampler, sequencer and various synth plug-ins with thousands of sounds, over 100 high-quality effects and intuitive operation, AKAI has developed a multifunctional all-in-one instrument that serves as a studio and live hub for musicians across almost every genre. Designed as a professional standalone sampling workstation, there is hardly a discipline that this workstation cannot handle. Thanks to its well-thought-out controls and the excellent workflow of the MPC series, the instrument is distinctly results-oriented. Overall, the MPC One G2 is designed to be highly suitable for live use: the chassis provides more space between all the controls, which is also utilised for additional labelling. Four rotary controls, which can be freely assigned across four groups or linked to specific parameters within the respective plug-ins, make tweaking sounds and effects a real pleasure. Via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, you can connect wireless music equipment – such as a wind controller – to the workstation and use it to play the sounds.

The MPC One G2’s central control element is the large 7-inch full-colour multi-touch screen. This allows you to edit MIDI events, add effects, edit step sequences, browse through sound categories, arrange, sample and much more in an intuitive way.
The notes are played into the sequencer and the sounds are triggered via the velocity-sensitive pads (and the keyboard). For even greater clarity, the pads are backlit in RGB colours. Of course, the pads also feature the classic MPC functions such as 16 levels, 16 notes, full level and mute.
Thanks to its powerful 8-core CPU, the MPC One G2 delivers four times the performance of the first-generation MPC One. Combined with the increased RAM, now totalling 4 GB, this MPC has enough power for faster project loading, plenty of stereo voices, up to 32 plugin instances, 16 audio tracks, support for Stems Pro, Super Timestretch, a responsive workflow and much more. This means even larger arrangements can be handled without this all-rounder running out of steam. The MPC One G2 comes with an internal storage capacity of 64 GB as standard; it also includes plenty of sample content pre-loaded! It has 4 GB of RAM. Additional samples can be stored on an SD card (medium sold separately). You can also connect external hard drives to either of the two USB-A ports.

The Akai MPC One G2 features eight powerful plug-in synthesizers that can be used as fully-fledged instruments without the need for a computer connection. The G2 version features a wealth of updated content – from classic drum machine sounds right through to melodic loops! Over 6,000 presets provide an excellent foundation for setting off on a musical journey of discovery:
What would the coolest sounds be without effects!? It’s just like salt in soup; a little bit is always welcome. Over 100 effects are waiting to be used! Various delay and reverb variants, all modulation effects such as chorus, flanger and phaser, and of course heavier effects like distortion and bitcrushers are also on board. Even the audio input can be processed with effects in real time. Specialised FX plug-ins for pitch correction, enhancing spatial perception and generating four-part harmonies are particularly beneficial when used with a connected microphone.
The rear panel of the MPC One G2 is pleasingly versatile. MIDI communication is handled via a pair of In/Out ports (16 channels in each direction) as well as USB. This is perfect for anyone wishing to connect additional equipment, such as a rack-mounted synthesiser or a DAW, to the MPC One G2 . As a sampler, an audio input is a must! A stereo input with a high-quality 24-bit converter adjusts the level of any signal as required. For signal output, there is a stereo output and a headphone output.
Euro Rack…
Four configurable CV/Gate outputs, available as dual-purpose TRS sockets, enable the MPC One G2 to be connected to a modular system. Other synthesisers equipped with CV/Gate inputs can also be controlled by the MPC Key 37 G2 in this way.
and computer/DAW
The USB-A port is ideal for MIDI controllers such as a master keyboard or a fader box, or even external hard drives. The USB-C port offers a whole range of exciting additional functions that go beyond simply transferring data between the computer and the MPC One G2. For example, you can trigger plugins on your computer or DAW using the sequencer and pads. The built-in 24-bit / 96 kHz audio interface transmits 24 channels to the DAW. It’s also possible to sample directly from a smartphone or tablet via USB-C! Sampling something directly from a YouTube video or a synth app and integrating it into your current project has never been easier.
