With the Diosynth, ASM builds a bridge between digital wind transducers and a fully-fledged synthesizer. Players of typical wind instruments such as saxophone and clarinet will easily find the transition to completely new worlds of sound and synthesizer fans have the opportunity to literally give new expression to their ideas. The fingering of the Diosynth is similar to that of a saxophone, with the mouthpiece positioned between saxophone and clarinet. In addition to the tone-determining levers, there is an X/Y joystick for modulation effects, assignable push buttons, a gyroscope for movement control and the mouthpiece is equipped with breath and bite sensors. These physical controls integrate seamlessly with the deep synthesis and sampling engine, making it the most intuitive and expressive wind instrument on the market.
The purely digital sound generation is based on the ASM HydraSynth (but not identical) and has been supplemented with blow converter-specific parameters and the sample oscillator.
The sounds of the Diosynth consist of two layers that can be used together or split. The extensive sound generation starts with six sound sources at once. The two wavescan oscillators, each with 219 waveforms, and the noise generator with its own filter form the foundation for all synthesizer sounds.
The sample oscillator was specially developed for the Diosynth. It contains 128 sample sets with meticulously recorded instruments played by world-class musicians using first-class recording technology. The sample sets include
All sound sources then pass through the Growl effect, which is basically a ring modulator with its own oscillator for the charismatic and metallic sound effects. The next sound-shaping element is the multimode filter with 16 variants. The final element is the Breath Amp, an adapted VCA that reacts to the typical playing technique of a blow converter. The synthesis options extend up to this point, from here onwards each layer offers a 4-band EQ, an insert effect and the panorama setting. For both layers, i.e. the entire patch/preset, there are also two send effects and reverb.
The Diosynth also has a lot to offer in terms of modulation: 5 ADSR envelopes and 5 synchronizable LFOs can be assigned to any parameter together with other modulation sources in the 32-slot modulation matrix. A dream come true for anyone who loves complex sounds! A total of 768 memory locations are available for sounds. With the free software editor, all parameters, setting options and presets can be easily edited, changed and reorganized.
