Endorphin.es, in collaboration with synth YouTuber LOOPOP, presents the Plus 3 Midnight Blue, which brings the bulky sustain and expression foot pedals to your desk in a compact, hand-friendly version! Anyone who needs these functions but has never been keen on fiddling with ‘accelerator and brake’ pedals under the table now finally has the chance to position these essential functions in a space-saving manner on or next to their synth, effects unit or MIDI controller. The fader takes on the role of the expression pedal. The red momentary button functions as the sustain pedal for as long as it is pressed. The black switch above it activates Hold/Drone mode. When the latter is active, pressing the red button again cancels the Hold function (Swap Mode).
Most USB/DAW keyboards have inputs for sustain and expression; for some, it is certainly worth considering connecting the Plus 3 to these inputs; the same applies to many keyboard synthesisers. Things get a bit more specialised if, for example, you want to control entries in the modulation matrix on synths such as the Modor NF-1 or Sequential Pro3. The Plus 3 also works wonders when used with effects units: with the Enorphin.es Golden Master and Ghost pedals, you can modulate assigned parameters via the fader, remotely control the knobs on a Moogerfooger pedal, or, for example, adjust the reverb mix on the Analog Heat +FX. Sustain is more commonly associated with playing the piano, where it’s used to hold down notes for longer. With synthesisers, combining it with a full sustain value on the VCA envelope creates authentic drone sounds.
