Exceptional sound shaping possibilities

With the Resonant Filterbank, Erica Synths presents the extended desktop version of the Graphic Resonant FB Eurorack module. The Resonant Filterbank is an analogue filterbank with 10 bands and digital control. Bands here refer to tuned bandpass filters that have been realised with high-quality film capacitors. A fixed filter bank is rather exotic in signal processing, but has enormous potential once you have familiarised yourself with how it works.

The main feature of the resonant filter bank is the ten filter bands with tuned bandpass filters. In contrast to a normal filter, you do not sweep through the entire frequency range with the cutoff control, but only control the volume of the respective band. This offers the rare and unique possibility of emphasising or attenuating certain frequency ranges of a sound. From a musical point of view, this is very productive and always invites you to experiment with new sounds. This device is therefore recommended for organically modulated filter structures; you can work out sounds that are not directly accessible in the audio material or simply filter and distort frequencies selectively.

The application range of the Resonant Filterbank extends far beyond the (animated) fixed filterbank application, with additional modes for multimode filters, clocked modulation, dynamic EQ, spectral analyser and dynamic spectral compressor. The ability to control each band separately as well as resonance via its own LFO or envelope follower or manually makes the Resonant Filterbank something special within its class. Events such as clock-synchronised LFOs can be synchronised via MIDI clock.

With 128 presets, there are enough memory locations to store the coolest creations. The first 32 presets are assigned factory programmes ex works, with a further 96 available for free use. Hidden in the menu is a parameter randomiser that provides unexpected results, which can of course be saved. Instead of an abrupt preset change, the Resonant Filterbank offers preset morphing. Starting from the current preset, you can set how quickly the change is carried out until the next preset is fully "loaded". The options for this range from 0.1 to 10 seconds. Thanks to the full MIDI implementation, it is also possible to control individual parameters via the DAW or a master sequencer. The signal path is designed for stereo, but mono is also accepted at the audio input.
