Expert Sleepers ES-6 mk3 is a lightpipe/CV interface and is the counterpart to the ES-3 or ES-8. The Eurorack module offers six CV inputs and an optical lightpipe output. The conversion of the analogue CV signals is done with a resolution of 24 bits. An ES-3 or ES-8 is absolutely necessary for operation, as the ES-6 receives its clock signal from its lightpipe input.
New in the Mk3 version are jumpers on the board to enable or disable DC coupling for each stereo pair of inputs. In addition, the audio performance has been improved.
Expert Sleepers ES-6 mk3To be bought with clear expectations about the usage but it does exactly what it should. Not fond of the rough black design and loose jack inputs but it looks robust and it is effective.
Like many other people I use this product as an analogue to digital converter for audio although it is primarily meant as a cv recorder but I found it good enough also for audio purposes. Apart from having DC offset (which you can easily remove by any of the free plugins floating around) it works just fine and I cannot hear any sound difference between it and my sound card inputs.
