The Fame Doumbek Aluminium is an aluminium Doumbek, that features a synthetic head, with a reinforced base, and an anthracite finish. Doumbeks are traditional chalice drums originally from the Arabian region, which are brought to life with various playing techniques. In Persian folk-music, the Doumbek is the most important percussion instrument of all. With an exceptional price to performance ratio, the Fame Doumbek is a low priced alternative for beginners as well as more advanced players.
There are fundamentally two different Tones that can be produced with the Doumbek: Striking the middle of the head produces a deep and powerful sound. This is varied with bright and assertive sounds by striking the head near the edge of the Doumbek shell. This combination provides lively and stirring rhythms, which not only enrich traditional musical styles at home but are also for modern recording music.
While a traditional Doumbek is usually turned from wood on a lathe, the body of the Doumbek from Fames is made from aluminium. This has two great advantages: firstly it reduces the weight considerably, which is very attractive for younger players. Aluminium is also more robust than wood and less sensitive to temperature and humidity fluctuations. With a diameter of 21.5 cm, the Fame Doumbek is equipped with 8 lugs, delivering a very reliable and balanced tuning. All of the screws are sunk into the hoop of the Doumbek so that they do not disrupt play. Included with the Fame Doumbek is a tuning key as well as a practical transport bag.
