The Ferrofish PULSE16 AE is a professional-grade AD/DA converter that combines cutting-edge conversion technology, flexible routing, and comprehensive connectivity. Designed for demanding studio and live environments, it delivers an accurate, transparent connection between analog and digital audio systems. Inside the PULSE16 AE, state-of-the-art ESS converters ensure reference-level sound quality. The ESS ES9017 DAC and ESS ES9840Q ADC deliver a dynamic range of up to 120 dB and a THD+N of –110 dB, preserving the finest sonic details while minimizing distortion and noise.
32 ADAT channels and flexible routing options
Equipped with four ADAT inputs and four ADAT outputs, the PULSE16 AE supports up to 32 channels at 48 kHz, 16 channels at 96 kHz, or 8 channels at 192 kHz via SMUX. Its intelligent per-channel routing system allows any input to be assigned to any output, enabling fully customizable signal flow—ideal for complex production setups and hybrid studio environments.
Professional connection diversity for every workflow
With 16 balanced TRS inputs and 16 balanced TRS outputs (6.35 mm), the PULSE16 AE integrates seamlessly into professional workflows. A dedicated headphone output with its own DAC provides precise, latency-free monitoring. Clock synchronization is handled via word clock I/O on 75-ohm BNC connectors, with operation as Master or Slave. A high-precision internal clock and active jitter reduction guarantee phase-accurate, stable performance at all times.
Compact, powerful and future-proof
Housed in a 19" 1U rackmount chassis, the PULSE16 AE combines robust construction with smart operation. The high-resolution color display and multi-color LED meters provide instant visual feedback for all input and output levels. Control is possible directly from the front panel or remotely via USB-C using the RemoteFish software. The device is also DSP-expandable, allowing future audio processing features to be added via an optional DSP stick.
MIDI, remote & integration without compromise
The PULSE16 AE offers comprehensive control options via MIDI and USB. It supports MIDI CC commands for remote operation and full automation within digital environments. Compact 3.5 mm TRS MIDI connectors simplify integration into modern DAW or controller-based setups. MIDI ports are also used for firmware updates and future functional expansions, ensuring the unit remains adaptable and future-ready.
