With the Ibanez Artstar AS153L-AYS Lefthand Antique Yellow Sunburst, the traditional Japanese company presents a classically built semi-acoustic electric guitar for jazz and blues that convinces with excellent sound at a tempting price. The guitar has a laminated maple body, a glued maple/mahogany neck with ebony and two Ibanez Super 58 humbuckers.
For the body of the Ibanez AS153 Ibanez uses laminated curly maple, which together with the Antique Yellow Sunburst finish gives the electric guitar a noble look. The classical semi-resonance construction also gives the electric guitar a particularly resonant primary tone, whose smooth response and warm wood tone bring every note to life. The Artstar profile of the three-piece maple/mahogany neck, on which complex jazz chords are just as easy to play as straight Blues licks, also ensures particularly comfortable guitar playing. Acrylic and abalone block inlays provide the best orientation between the 22 medium frets of the ebony fingerboard.
The Ibanez Artstar AS153-AYS Antique Yellow Sunburst is equipped with two Ibanez Super 58 humbuckers in the neck and bridge position, which are among the greatest classics in the program of the Japanese company and are played by George Benson or John Scofield, among others. With their Alnico magnets, the two humbuckers deliver a smooth, finely nuanced sound in the clean channel that represents every note with lively articulation, while in the overdrive they make every lick sing. The tri-sound switch, via which the coils of the neck humbucker can be operated serially, in parallel or split, also provides increased tonal variability. A 3-way toggle switch and individual volume and tone controls are also available for further control of the pickups.
