With Cornflakes, MISO Modular presents a granular sampler and audio player that reveals its qualities equally as a live effects device. The module accesses 32 audio samples stored on the SD card. The LEDs indicating the selected sample can be switched to a peak meter to monitor the input level of an incoming audio signal. For sample processing, there are eight parameters that have their own control voltage inputs. If the controls are left in a neutral setting, the samples are played back 1:1. However, the parameters are wide enough to make extreme changes to the audio material, namely granularization. In combination with changing the pitch, manipulating the grain size and shifting the playback position and sample length, abstract, as well as wacky possibilities, arise to completely transform sound collages, Loops and other audio material. Thanks to the stereo audio inputs, Cornflakes is able to record samples itself and process the incoming audio signal in real-time. The results are often reminiscent of the Atomizer feature from the Access Virus.
