The Rode VideoMic is a designed-for-purpose condenser shotgun microphone which can be affixed directly to cameras using the integrated cold-shoe mount. The VideoMic also features a Rycote Lyre based shock mounting system to isolate itself from the mount and camera, minimising unwanted noise produced by movement and other factors. A super-cardioid polar response is ideally suited to recording audio in the field as the directional nature of the pattern ensures audio is captured from wherever the camera is facing, whilst rejecting sound from outside that space. The frequency response of the condenser is wide ranging (40Hz-20kHz) and can employ a selectable 80Hz high-pass filter if low-end noise is proving problematic. Louder sound sources can be safely recorded using the level attenuation PAD (-10 or -20dB).
