The Rupert Neve Portico II Master Bus Processor contains all the tools you need for outstanding dynamic mastering. From standard sum compression through to parallel compression and sophisticated M/S compression, it offers everything an engineer could wish for.
The two compressors offer virtually unlimited possibilities for dynamic processing, either in dual-mono or stereo mode. Flexible settings for ratio, threshold, attack, release, blend, side-chain HPF and make-up gain provide versatile control over the audio material. The compressor can be operated in both feed-forward and feed-back modes, delivering a modern, transparent result (FF) or a more musical, classic sound (FB). To generate harmonics in a targeted manner, two switchable Neve transformers are included, which are activated via the Texture control. Finally, a brickwall limiter with an attack time of 0.03 ms is built in, which handles the final stage of compression better and with a more natural sound than any plug-in.
The Rupert Neve Portico II’s stereo processor is designed for working with the M/S technique. It features separate volume controls for mid and side material (Depth/Width) and can also filter each channel using an equaliser. This utilises four selectable fixed-band filters that emphasise either bass, treble or midrange. If you wish to apply matrixing before compression, the order of the sections can be reversed using a switch.
