The Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II 128MB at a glance:
The EP-133 K.O. II 128MB from Teenage Engineering is the successor to the EP-133 K.O. II sampler/sequencer, now with twice the RAM. At first glance, it may remind you of 1980s pocket calculators, but this impression doesn’t do justice to the capabilities of this compact musical instrument. Featuring a super-segment hybrid display and twelve velocity-sensitive trigger pads, the EP-133 K.O. II 128MB is designed for creative flexibility. It offers 12 tracks of polyphony 12 voices with stereo samples and 16 voices with mono samples. With a 46 kHz / 16-bit sample rate, the sound quality is studio-compatible. The internal memory holds 128 MB, providing space for up to 999 samples. Since most one-shot samples are short, there is still plenty of space for stereo samples, freshly recorded audio via the audio input, and vocals captured with the built-in microphone. In song mode, you can store nine songs, each with a total capacity of up to 80,000 notes.
Memory management & sequencer
The EP-133 K.O. II manages nine projects, each capable of handling 80,000 notes. Each project includes four banks of 99 patterns, with a maximum length of 99 bars per pattern. Every pattern provides 12 tracks for samples and MIDI, and a chromatic mode allows tonal playback of samples. Loops can also be grid-synced. Notes are recorded in Live mode, and a metronome can be enabled for rhythmic guidance. With 12 punch-in effects, rhythm changes, fades, and note-based breaks can be created easily, giving your beats dynamic variation. Each sample can be edited using standard parameters such as level, pitch, filter, A/R envelope, pan, and more. Additionally, six high-quality audio effects and a master compressor are included.
Connections
The EP-133 K.O. II communicates with the outside world via the built-in speaker. Stereo Line, MIDI, and Sync connections are provided via 3.5 mm stereo jacks. Power is supplied through USB-C or four AAA batteries. USB-C is also used for data exchange with a computer and MIDI integration with a DAW, though it does not transmit audio.
