The cardioid PRO microphone head is a directional head designed for recording in environments with varying levels of noise, making it a safe choice for most applications as an all-rounder. By picking up sound from the front, it filters out ambient noise and its optimised frequency response provides excellent speech pick up and intelligibility with a warm sound. The cardioid pickup pattern is ideal as a reporter's microphone for interview applications in a variety of environments, such as large events or outdoor recording in high-traffic locations. A proximity effect (amplification of bass frequencies) that many directional microphones struggle with occurs as a desired slight bass boost in close-up recordings. The high-pass filter of the LEA engine integrated in the recorder results in a first-class equalisation of the frequency ranges.
