Mobile 4-track audio recorder

The Zoom H4n Pro Field Recorder is one of the top mobile audio recorders and offers a wide range of applications. Due to the excellent X/Y stereo imaging and the possibility to connect two additional microphones and a headphone, the Zoom H4n Pro is perfectly suited to record audio material for movies. Its very high maximum sound pressure limit, in turn, makes the 4-track audio recorder an ideal companion at live concerts. Thanks to its compact dimensions and plug-in power, which also allows lavalier microphones to be connected, recording interviews is child's play. For those who also want to record their musical ideas as versatilely as possible and in excellent sound quality, the Zoom H4n Pro offers overdubbing and punch-in. In addition, the audio recorder can be used as a two-channel USB audio interface .

High-Performance Mic Preamps

Like the H5 and H6, the Zoom H4n Pro is equipped with the popular high-fidelity and low-noise mic preamps, enabling recordings in fabulous 24-bit/96kHz quality. At the same time, the noise floor of the Pro Versoin is significantly lower, the sound for it and become so clearer.


The recording modes

The H4N Pro works in three different recording modes:

  1. Stereo mode is recommended for recording acoustic instruments and dialog, for example, as either the internal X/Y or alternatively two external microphones can be used here.
  2. In 4CH mode, two additional microphones can be processed simultaneously via the corresponding external microphone inputs in addition to the internal X/Y microphones.
  3. MTR mode turns the H4N Pro into a mobile four-track recording studio with built-in effects, overdubbing and punch-in function.

Excerpt: The Zoom H4n Pro is an all-around great portable audio recorder. The two XY microphones are very good, as are the two microphone preamps behind the lockable combo jacks. The handling is convincing thanks to the grippy rubberized surface. Professional features are on board, such as recording in BWAV format with automatic time stamps. The device can also be used as an audio interface.
