Polyphonic sound clusters, drones and chords in the modular synthesiser

The 4ms Ensemble Oscillator is a digital, polyphonic oscillator that ingeniously combines additive synthesis, FM and phase modulation, and wave shaping. At the heart of the design are 16 sine-wave-based oscillators, which are tuned and detuned at regular intervals. 30 programmable scales dictate the direction in which the individual frequencies are shifted; programming is carried out via control voltages. Three modes each for Twist Phases (phase modulation), Warp (wave shaping) and Cross FM expand the sonic possibilities in astonishing ways. In addition, there is a special panning mode that distributes the oscillators across the stereo field (Out A & B). Another highlight is the two quantised and non-quantised pitch inputs, giving you the choice of whether to play notes with a specific pitch reference or to generate sounds in an ‘experimental context’.
