If you want to play your instrument wirelessly without having to operate expensive and complex radio systems, you can use the practical Boss WL-50 radio system. Consisting of a compact transmitter for the instrument and a stationary receiver, this set uses Auto Wireless Connection to determine the ideal connection in any wireless environment, so that the signal is always transmitted clearly and without interruption to standard amplifiers or effects devices. The WL-50 is designed for use with pedal boards and has a receiver in the appropriate format. This can be powered either by batteries or by a classic mains adapter. Thanks to the DC Out socket, the WL-50 receiver also operates additional 9V effects on the board. Cable Tone switches can be used to simulate the capacitive effects of a 3 or 6 meter long cable. Last but not least, the WL-50 system with a maximum runtime of up to 12 hours offers enough power for longer gigs and sessions.
I had previously bought a cheaper wireless system which I was disappointed with, and decided to upgrade to this. I decided on this one because it is in the mid price range, suitable for a pedal board, and had good reviews. I am very happy with it. It was very easy to set up - really 'plug and play'. The receiver just sits on my pedal board and works perfectly when powered from my One Spot Pro power supply via a 500mA power connector (or batteries). Definitely no need for the Boss power adapter which is suggested everywhere. The transmitter docks in the receiver when not in use, and charges. Then you simply take it out of the receiver, plug it into the guitar, and it just works immediately. Sound quality is perfect (no noise, no signal loss, no interference) and it has guitar cable emulation options. I haven't fully tested the range but I can go up 2 floors in my house, through several walls, and it still works. I've also tested it with other musicians also running wireless systems, with no problems. Battery life is very good - 12 hours - and the indicator lights give you plenty of warning the battery is running out so you can charge it. It's a really nice piece of kit if you want to untether yourself in the house, or walk around the crowd while playing live :-)
