With the PRS Custom 24 Quilted River Blue the noble guitar builder from Stevensville, Maryland presents a very special version of his most successful electric guitar. The top is made of intensively drawn cloud maple, while two PRS 58/15 humbuckers provide a versatile sound with a modern character. Last but not least, robust and innovative PRS hardware in the form of tremolo and Phase III locking mechanisms is convincing.
Paul Reed Smith uses the usual high-quality woods for the construction of the PRS Custom 24. A carefully selected piece of mahogany is used for the body, while the top is made of cloud maple, whose breathtakingly even grain is brought to life by the transparent finish in River Blue with almost tangible depth. Together with an ebony fingerboard, the electric guitar delivers such a warm primary tone with a radiant response. Furthermore, the slim "Wide Thin" profile promises unhindered playability, so that even after hours of playing the guitar, every note goes off the fingers easily.
The electrical sound conversion of the PRS Custom 24 River Blue is done by a PRS 58/15 Bass Humbucker in the neck position and a PRS 58/15 Treble Humbucker in the bridge position. Wrapped to the specifications of the late 1950s, they deliver an authentic vintage sound that brings every note to life with a remarkably clear bass foundation, vocal nuanced high mids and a silky overtone spectrum. Different coil combinations can be called up via the 5-way blade switch, so that versatile tones are available in the guitar sound.
The equipment of the Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 River Blue is completed by high-quality hardware from our own company. On the body side, the strings are supported by the proven PRS tremolo, which convinces with smooth handling and high functionality and offers a pleasant support thanks to rounded edges of the hand. At the headstock the strings run with straight tension from the saddle to the PRS Phase III locking mechanisms. These guarantee a high tuning stability even with frequent use of vibrato and make string changes much easier. The PRS Custom 24 is also delivered in a noble PRS case, which offers the electric guitar the best possible protection during transport.
