The ULTRAMATCH PRO SRC2496 is the successor of the renowned SRC2000, and enables you to transfer digital audio signals between devices with different sample rates, formats or interfaces, disable SCMS for 1:1 digital copies and remove dropouts or jitter from digital media. Simultaneously operable outputs offer splitter functionality. The 24-bit/96 kHz compatible SRC2496 now offers high-quality 24-bit/96 kHz A/D and D/A conversion. The ULTRAMATCH PRO SRC2496 is as such perfectly suitable for studio work. Format conversion between AES/EBU and S/PDIF (coaxial or optical) is provided for, with high-quality signal output with 16-, 20- or 24-bit resolution. Universal sample rate synchronization is done via wordclock or digital input. XLR, RCA and optical outputs are simultaneously operational with separately selectable inputs, turning this unit into a digital patch bay.
Ive been searching for good but not overpriced all-in-one device (DAC with built-in headphone amplifier). Nowadays audio industry is overwhelmed with marketing. As a result, we often see unreasonably high priced DACs and amps. Fortunately, Behringer SRC2496 Ultramatch Pro is a different story. It combines numerous features with adequate value. What does it have?
1) AK4393VF DAC provides exceptionally transparent sound. And we also get nice punchy bass.
2) Built-in headphone amplifier is powerful enough for wide variety of headphones.
3) This device has many features for professional use. All modes are indicated by numerous LEDs.
4) It is equipped with both balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs.
Some drawbacks Ive discovered:
1) Transformer hum
2) Volume control for headphones is a stepped attenuator. With high sensitivity headphones it can be difficult to achieve a desired volume level. Also there is a channel imbalance within lower 3 steps.
