With the Artisan Stratocaster the Fender Custom Shop presents an incomparable Smybiose from breathtaking optics and outstanding sound. The elaborate"drop top" top made of exquisite cloud maple, which nestles fully around the contours of the body, immediately catches the eye with the plastic effect of the Tigereye finish and, together with the Tortoise striking board, Lipstick pickups and chrome hardware, gives this masterpiece a harmonious and noble appearance.
The shiny lipstick caps conceal the popular Custom Shop Fat '50s single coils, which give the Fender Custom Shop Artisan Stratocaster a harmonious sound. Tight bass, sweet mids and transparent highs combine to a unique sound, which on the clean amplifier presents melodies and chords with bell-like transparency and best string separation. But also in overdrive settings the pickups can fully convince and deliver bluesy licks and singing solos.
The 2-point synchronized tremolo in combination with the graphite saddle and the mechanisms with staggered winding axes allows gently shimmering vibratos without detuning.
The Fender Custom Shop was founded in 1987 with the aim of giving guitarists the best possible instruments to realize their musical dreams.
Initially a small, exquisite two-man business under the direct supervision of the then CEO Billy Schultz, the Custom Shop developed into an established player within the Fender Group and now produces exclusive small series and custom instruments for customers with more than 50 guitar builders, including nine master builders.
At the NAMM Show 1995 the Custom Shop also managed a unique coup with the presentation of the Relic series. The instruments, initially exhibited without information, were considered by visitors to be authentic instruments of the 1950s and 1960s. When it became clear that the Custom Shop team had succeeded in authentically reproducing the look, feel and sound of these rare instruments with a newly built guitar, the Relic instruments became an absolute success and started a boom that continues to this day.
