I picked up the ModBase 09 MkII because I wanted to add serious analog punch to my setup, and I’ve been really impressed with what it can do. Even though I'm not a technical expert, I’ve managed to get some great results after spending some time with it.
Strengths:
The sound is definitely the standout feature. This module delivers deep, powerful kicks that cut through a mix. Whether you want short and tight or long and booming, it’s all possible. It can get clean or really gritty depending on how you dial it in.
There are a lot of parameters to shape the sound—things like pitch, decay, noise, EQ, and even some distortion-like effects. It takes some trial and error at first, but once you get the hang of what each thing does, it becomes quite fun to explore.
