The PRS McCarty is a successful tribute by Paul Reed Smith to guitar making legend Ted McCarty. While he was still the leading designer of the most famous US-made designs in the 1950s, he advised the young Paul Reed Smith in his early days as a guitar maker and had a significant influence on the unique PRS construction style. The PRS McCarty presents classic design features from the pen of Ted McCarty and relies on the proven combination of mahogany body and maple top, which is complemented by a glued mahogany neck. Also modelled on Ted's design philosophy are the two PRS McCarty III humbuckers in the neck and bridge position with a clear vintage character. The PRS McCarty is completed by solid PRS hardware in the form of a PRS Designed Stoptail and six PRS Phase III tuners with locking function.
