Multitrack recording on a new level: six tracks in flawless quality

The Tascam FR-AV4 opens up completely new possibilities for professional multitrack recording. It enables the simultaneous recording of four mono inputs plus a stereo summed mix - a total of six separate audio tracks. Thanks to the use of modern 32-bit float technology in combination with an enormous dynamic range of 133 dB, even extreme level fluctuations are captured without distortion and with full depth of detail.

High-quality microphone preamplifiers with an equivalent input noise of just -127 dBu (Ultra HDDA) guarantee exceptionally clean sound reproduction - ideal for speech, music and complex environmental recordings.

Recording takes place directly onto standard SDXC cards. Depending on the project, 24-bit or 32-bit float can be combined with 48, 96 or 192 kHz sampling rates - for maximum control over sound quality and storage requirements.

Developed for AV professionals: Timecode, HDMI and perfect synchronization

The FR-AV4 is not just an audio recorder - it is a sophisticated tool for professional picture/sound synchronization. Thanks to the integrated timecode generator, HDMI clocking, timecode in/out and support for Atomos Bluetooth Sync, precise AV coupling is guaranteed. Modern video formats such as 4K and 8K are also easily supported thanks to the HDMI pass-through function.

Ideal for use on set: the cascade and trigger control allows centralized control of multiple devices - automatically, manually or via HDMI trigger.

Flexibility in any situation - whether in the studio or on the move

With its compact, lightweight design, the FR-AV4 is ideally equipped for mobile use. Power is supplied via AA batteries, USB power banks or an optional mains adapter. Operation is intuitive: a 1.9-inch LCD touchscreen in combination with a jog wheel allows quick access to all functions. Up to five devices can be controlled wirelessly via the free "Tascam Recorder Connect" app - including monitoring function via Bluetooth.

Sophisticated functions for demanding audio work

The Tascam FR-AV4 offers numerous functions that meet even the high demands of professional audio productions. An integrated mixer allows flexible mixing of up to four input channels to two outputs - ideal for controlled live recordings or direct camera mixes. EQ, Noise gate, limiter and a switchable low-cut filter are available directly in the device for targeted sound processing. In addition, an individual signal delay of up to 300 milliseconds can be set for inputs and outputs - useful for adjusting the runtime of complex setups.

The FR-AV4 is also versatile when it comes to spatial recordings: it supports Ambisonic formats of levels A and B (AmbiX, FuMa) and thus enables immersive 360° audio recordings.

An integrated tone generator supports leveling and troubleshooting - a useful tool, especially in hectic productions or when setting up complex AV chains.

The connection options are comprehensive and practical:

• Four XLR/TRS combo sockets for microphones or line signals, each with switchable phantom power (24 V / 48 V)
• 3.5 mm jack input for camera or line signals, with switchable plug-in power (2.5 V or 5 V)
• 3.5 mm stereo output (LINE OUT / TC OUT / headphones) for output to camera, timecode receiver or monitor system
• Separate 3.5 mm headphone output with its own volume control
• HDMI-IN for AV synchronization with cameras and for timecode input
• HDMI OUT for forwarding video and audio signals (incl. 4K/8K pass-through)
• TC IN and TC OUT (3.5 mm each) for precise timecode synchronization
• USB-C connection for power supply, audio interface operation or file transfer
• Connection option for Bluetooth adapter (Tascam AK-BT2 - optionally available)
