With the Gretsch G6128T-CLFG Duo Jet, Gretsch pays homage to no less than Rockabilly legend Cliff Gallup, who died in 1988. Known for hits like Be-Bop-A-Lula or Race with the Devil as lead guitarist of Gene Vincent's Blue Caps, Cliff achieved legendary status and is one of the greatest guitarists of early rock and roll and rockabilly alongside Eddie Cochran. Its GH6128T-CLFG Duo Jet conjures up the sound and features of the Blue Caps era of the mid-fifties and features two DynaSonic pickups in DeArmond style, Aluminum Rocker Bridge and of course the classic Bigsby B3 Vibrato with fixed vibrato lever.
A classic duo jet from the Gretsch range, the Cliff Gallup Duo Jet embodies the single cutaway solid body design with chambered mahogany body including laminated maple top and glued mahogany neck in the handy standard'U' profile. In addition to multi-layer bindings for the body and neck, the 22-flush rosewood fingerboard has authentic block inlays for orientation, while Cliff Gallup's signature adorns the truss rod cover.
Two Gretsch DynaSonic single coil pickups in neck and bridge position follow the tracks of the legendary DeArmond Model 200 pickups of the original and offer the classic construction and authentically clear spank sounds of early rock and roll and rockabilly.
On the hardware side, the G6128T-CLFG Duo Jet uses the vintage combination of a compensated aluminum rocker bridge on an aluminum base plate and a Bigsby B3 vibrato system. The vibrato system comes with the fixed arm of the early fifties models and offers a fast and direct response.
