Hexinverter Mutant Rimshot is an analog rimshot and clave synthesis module based on analog drum machines (909) of the past. Expressive CV capabilities, an external input and multi-mode filters create unique percussion sounds with the Modular Synthesizer.
The triple oscillator of the Hexinverter Mutant Rimshot is inspired by the legendary 909. Percussion sounds can be created in three different modes, whereby the respective mode is selected via a switch: Rimshot Hi (classic), Rimshot LO and Clave (CLV). The pitch of an oscillator can be controlled via control voltage. Via the external input into the voltage-controlled filter, you can fade into other signal sources, creating interesting new percussion sounds. The parameter drive acts as volume and distortion control for the rimshot generator.
Mutant Rimshot has a bandpass, high-pass and low-pass filter with manually adjustable resonance. Which filter is active is selected via a switch. Resonance clipping is enabled by default, but can be turned off by a switch on the back of the module. The cutoff frequency can also be controlled via a control voltage.
The Eurorack compatible CV inputs (0 to 5V) of the Mutant Rimshot of Hexinverter are provided with bipolar attenuators. A practical trigger circuit allows the activation of the Rimshot module from signals from various sources. Electronic drum pads can usually trigger mutant rimshot directly. The accent input accepts analog control voltages (0 to 5V) and modulates the volume.
