MAGIX now enters the 15th round with Sequoia and once again presents a more polished version with new functions for music productions of all kinds. Especially this version is an upgrade from older versions (maximum 13) to the newest 15er version. In addition to the many improvements over the previous version, the digital audio workstation offers new surround functions with 3D Surround (up to 32 channels) as well as extensions for the AVID Eucon S6 controller. Sequoia has also been adapted to the needs of professional users and defines another milestone in mastering and broadcasting: Comprehensive loudness functions according to EBU R128 as well as improvements in plug-in management, track automation and multi-format export etc. ensure maximum flexibility, performance and efficiency. Add to that the unique multisync editing that significantly accelerates the process of editing complex projects with many tracks and takes, while excellent plug-ins, sophisticated workflows and mastering features packed into an intuitive design get more out of your projects than ever before.
Sequoia now offers the possibility to change the height positions of the virtual sound sources and thus generate a targeted 3D surround sound. The positioning of the spatial axes can be automated both in track and object. The VBAP positioning mode (Vector Base Amplitude Panning) is the keyword here: This feature allows you to create phantom sources with high localization sharpness in your surround setup. VBAP can be used in both 2D and 3D setup regardless of the number of virtual speakers.
The DAW also supports any number of surround masters in a project and up to 32 channels per track. Also worth mentioning: The Surround Master can now send to the Stereo Master via Downmix. Of course, the level components of the surround channels can be freely adjusted.
If you want to automate your track parameters such as volume, panorama or VST effect parameters, you can see and control them in subtracks of the audio track. The existing control elements in the track head offer optimal Steuer - and switching possibilities.
Sequoias Export dialog now also provides functions for the simultaneous export of audio material in multiple surround formats as well as various codec configurations. All created export chains can be saved as templates.
When it comes to plug-ins, the Plug-in Browser now offers faster access to all effects and virtual instruments. This ensures a faster workflow in general and with keystrokes only if necessary, so that some cumbersome clicks can be saved.
Nowadays, projects are getting bigger and bigger, which is why Sequoia 15 now also allows multicore handling of up to 32 CPU cores. In addition, the ASIO Priority Boost option has been integrated, which assigns the highest CPU priority to the program if desired.
The MIDI features in Sequoia 15 have been extensively expanded so that you can now use the parameter editing tool in addition to the optimized plug-and-play behavior for external MIDI devices. Marked events can be moved, stretched or compressed as desired.
Eucon S6 users will be pleased - The functionality within Sequoia has been improved, including the availability of waveform display of audio tracks in the display. The communication between Sequoia and the S6 takes place via the Ethernet-based high-speed technology EUCON.
Also on board is the full version of the Spectralayer Pro 5 with its innovative level concept. It offers restoration as well as comprehensive processing options for the frequency spectrum of audio data in 2D and 3D. Inspired by video and image processing, the main areas of application are audio restoration, postproduction, sound design and mixing. The latest version features a revised frontend for smooth workflows, additional tools for restoration and repair, and a completely new high-resolution spectrogram.
