PALMER PWT 12 Mk2 Power Bar
Multi power supply for pedalboards
With the Palmer PWT 12 Mk2 Power Bar, even large pedalboards with the most diverse demands on voltage and amperage can be supplied. Accordingly, in addition to the total of eight 9 volt outputs with up to 300 mA, four adjustable connectors are available that deliver up to 500 mA at voltages between 6 volts and 18 volts.
The Palmer PWT 12 Mk2 Power Bar at a glance:
Multi power supply for pedalboard
12 outputs in total
Total current at all outputs 2000 mA
Eight connections with 300 mA @ 9 volts
Four adjustable connections with 500 mA @ 6 volts to 18 volts
18 volt power supply and connection cables included
Reassuringly robust, that seems typical of Palmer (I also own a PDI-06 attenuator and a PDI-03-JB direct in). This power supply has more outlets than I currently need but enough for future growth - which is exactly what I wanted. I also needed at least one 18 volt output, but I needed it to help me avoid accidentally using 9-volt accessories with such sockets. This is the ONLY unit I have seen whose design is clear enough by both physical layout and labelling, that it is clear which socket is for what. Even better is that the 18-volt sockets are adjustable between 6; 9; 12; 15 and 18 volts and there are FOUR of them. THis is just such a perfect product in terms of its design. In terms of power delivery it is silent and noise-free; remains cool to the touch and just simply delivers without fuss. In terms of value for money, I bought this PSU rather than one from MXR or VoodooLabs because they are either badly designed (MXR) or unnecessarily expensive. Palmer also offer an 8-output PSU (PWT-8) but for the price and the number of variable-voltage outputs, this PWT-12 is a steal!
For my use it's good that transformer is not in the same package with power outlets. In Palmer style the housing is steady and it's easy to fix into pedalboard.
Nice piece of kit. Functional and clear. The only drawback was it came with a European two pronged plug so I has to buy an additional adapter for the UK. Note: You can find UK adapters with the hexagonal key that do take this plug from the rear, as oppose to underneath.
I had issues with the previous power supply that I had, like ground noise and less wattage that it could handle. With the Palmer, the ground noise disappeared and also I had connected 12 effects on this power supply with no problems.
