With the Friedman Runt 50, Dave Friedmans company for boutique amps presents a compact 50 watt top in full tube design that leaves no wish between country, blues, rock or metal unfulfilled. Accordingly, the guitar amplifier has a two-channel preamp design with four 12AX7 tubes, providing a clean and an overdrive channel with extensive possibilities for adjusting the sound, while the power amp is equipped with two EL34s for a more assertive sound character. In addition to the serial effects loop, the Friedman Runt 50 also has a balanced XLR output, which outputs a signal with speaker simulation for direct playing to the mixing console or audio interface.
The Friedman Runt 50's two-channel preamp design uses a total of four 12AX7 tubes and provides two variable channels. The American-tuned clean channel, which is supported by a 2-band tone control and a three-stage bright switch, convinces with a particularly transparent sound that brings every note to life with tight bass, vocal mids and brilliant glitter in the treble. The overdrive channel, on the other hand, has a 3-band tone control and a switchable boost, so that it covers different sound characters, from bluesy overdrive to juicy rock distortion to burning high-gain sound. A serial effects loop is also available for looping in external effect devices.
A special feature of the Friedman Runt 50 Head is the balanced XLR output, which outputs a guitar signal with first-class loudspeaker simulation for direct playing into the mixing console or audio interface. The "Axis"-switch can be used to adjust the position of the virtually placed microphone and thus to change the sound character. In addition, the Friedman Runt 50's power amplifier is equipped with two EL34 tubes, from which the guitar amplifier draws up to 50 watts of power. Accordingly, sufficient volume reserves are available for band rehearsals or shows.
