The Fender American Original 60s Stratocaster follows the basic structure of the mature Strat of the sixties without neglecting the contemporary demands of today's players. Despite classic sixties appointments, the higher Vintage Tall fretwire and a larger 9.5" fretboard radius meet expressive lead play. Three Pure Vintage '65 Gray Bottom single coils create coveted strat sounds from neck to bridge, while classic vintage finishes and sixties hardware give the guitar classic its authentic look.
A rosewood fingerboard, mint pickguard and a classic vintage finish are the basic ingredients of a genuine Sixties Strat.
As the Stratocaster became more and more a lead instrument alongside the classical chord playing, the neck profile also changed from the classical V to the thick C shape. 21 frets in the higher vintage tall format and a fretboard radius of 9.5" are especially designed for modern playing techniques and invite to classical lead playing on the entire fretboard.
For the authentic sound of the sixties Strat, Fender uses authentic ingredients from the era for the Pure Vintage '65 Gray Bottom Single Coils: enamelled winding wire, Alnico V magnets and waxed coils. All three pickups provide strat sounds of strong character with the flexible sound setup between neck, middle and bridge.
