The G&L Tribute JB RW Lake Placid Blue offers classic bass design and versatile passive sounds at a surprisingly attractive price. G&L Guitars relies on a lime-tree body with an elegant offset design, which takes up an optimal playing position both on the thigh and on the girth, and a screwed maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, whose "Medium C" profile with the usual 1.5" saddle width (38 mm) offers the most comfortable playing characteristics. In addition, two G&L Alnico single coil pickups together with the traditional passive circuit consisting of two volume and one tone potentiometers on the bass amplifier provide versatile bass sounds that provide the right groove for almost every musical style. Of course, the G&L Tribute JB is equipped with the G&L Saddle Lock bridge, which contributes to the even and sustain-strong sound of the bass with its solid construction and lockable string riders.
I must admit, it took about a month for this bass to arrive but with bad weather and the whole Brexit situation, I wasn’t too surprised at this. It arrived in good condition and plays nicely. I was torn between this and a squire bass but I’d heard that you get more bass for your money with this G&L tribute. I think I made a good decision but I’m sure it all comes down to preference. I’ve only used it a couple of times since purchasing but so far I’m impressed. It needs a minor adjustment to the action as it has a slight fret buzz but expected as it had a long journey in very cold conditions.
