The Taylor Academy 20e at a glance
Due to its high-quality features and workmanship, the Taylor Academy 20e is excellent for beginners and advanced players. A clever construction with armrest promises a very comfortable playing in sitting and standing position. In addition, the instrument produces a very responsive sound that is warmly pronounced in the bass and midrange frequencies. A perfectly tuned Hardware also guarantees accurate intonation on the short 632 mm scale. The overall package is completed with a sturdy case, which is included in the delivery.
Construction and woods
To produce a meaningful sound, the manufacturer uses a walnut top and laminated walnut body for the extensive dreadnought construction. This combination paired with a bracing specially designed for the Academy series produces a powerful tone even with light touches and ensures a quick sense of achievement, especially for beginners. The short maple neck is equipped with an ebony fingerboard, with easy and accommodating access to all 20 frets.
Hardware and design
The high quality of the Taylor Academy 20e Dreadnought guitar is undoubtedly underpinned by the carefully crafted Hardware. Thus, a compensated saddle made of Micarta and a 42.8 mm wide nut made of Nubone ensure a precise tone in any position. Chrome-plated die-cast tuners simultaneously ensure clean tuning of the 6 steel strings. Probably the most striking part of the construction is the armrest in which creates a smooth transition between the bright top and the rib. The soundhole is surrounded by a three-ring soundhole rosette, which is made of fine Baltic Birch rings. Matching the rather plain appearance, the frets are marked with 4 mm dot inlays.
Electronics
For amplified use, the Academy 20e is perfectly equipped. The active Taylor ES-B pickup system can be operated and individually adjusted in a very user-friendly way. In addition, a tuner is integrated into the side preamp, which displays the respective pitch via a large LED display. The system is powered by two CR2032 button cells, which are included.
