The Electro Harmonix Crying Bass is the first bass guitar effects pedal to be part of the brands Next Step Effects range of pedals.
The Electro Harmonix Crying Bass combines both fuzz and wah in a single pedal that has been designed especially for use with a bass guitar. This combination of effects produces an incredibly smooth response and tone that ranges anywhere from clean funk all the way up to outrageous distorted growl.
Both the wah and the fuzz circuits have been specifically designed for the bass guitar. The wah has been built to operate over a bass-specific frequency range, while the fuzz circuit has been specifically tuned to extra harmonics to the tone. A fixed low-pass filter that adds extra bottom end to the wah effect is also present.
The casing of the Electro Harmonix Crying Bass deserves special mention as it is part of their Next Step Effects range. Unlike traditional wah wah pedals, it features no moving parts, gears, switches or pots that could potentially break. Instead of having a moving foot-plate and stationary base, the entire chassis rocks thanks to its unique design and shape.
