With the G&L Tribute Series SB-2 RW Black Frost, the traditional company from Fullerton, California, sends a straightforwardly designed Bass into the race, whose métier is multi-faceted as well as powerful all-round Bass sounds. While the design with comfortably shaped poplar body and slim "Medium C" maple neck promises comfortable playing characteristics, a PJ pickup setup with Magnetic Field Design pickups ensures first-class sounds with the perfect amount of pressure and assertiveness. Of course, G&L completes the Tribute SB-2 RW Black Frost bass guitar with the obligatory saddle-lock bridge and precise vintage-style tuning machines.

In the construction of the Tribute Series SB-2, G&L Guitars pays special attention to a lively sound and optimal playing characteristics. The poplar body, fitted with comfortable shaping, takes a well-balanced position both on the strap and on the thigh. At the same time, the slim "Medium C" profile promises optimal playability of the bolt-on maple neck, which carries a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with a pleasantly flat 12" radius (305 mm).

G&L MFD pickups with their own volume pots elicit diverse all-round sounds with high punch and precise articulation from the bass amp....

MFD pickup for flexible and powerful bass sounds

The Tribute Series SB-2 E-Bass uses two G&L Magnetic Field Design pickups (MFD) in the PJ setup, which deliver powerful, yet finely resolved sounds. The MFD split-coil in middle position delivers a powerful low-mid growl, while the MFD single-coil in bridge position provides a wiry tone with assertive presence in the mids and highs. Via the two volume controls of the straight passive circuit, the signals of both pickup can be freely mixed to retrieve different timbres.
