Taylor's 500 series:
The mahogany class: All 500s have a completely mahogany body and a gloss body finish. The sound of the dark and strongly grained wood is enhanced by an Expression System 2. The 500 series 2016 comes with a shorter scale length and an open window head plate.

Dreadnought body:
The powerful Dreadnought is one of the best-known Western guitars and a true all-rounder with a wide tonal spectrum. Deeply rooted in bluegrass and folk music, the dreadnought is suitable for strumming as well as flatpicking with a powerful touch.
The open window head plate gives the Taylor 510e the traditional look.
Expression System 2:
The Expression System 2 is an upgrade to the previously used version of the in-house pickup system. In contrast to previous practice, the transducer of the ES2 is not located underneath but behind the bar insert. This was because the high tensile force of the strings limits the vertical vibration of the inlay, but it can swing back and forth. The piezo pickup takes advantage of this movement to produce a warm, full and less biting, bright sound.
