With the strictly limited Taylor 814ce LTD , the Californian manufacturer presents a particularly striking version of the popular 800 series . This all solid guitar comes in Grand Auditorium construction and produces a very bright and precise sound thanks to its Lutz spruce top , which is perfectly complemented by the distinct bass frequencies of the remarkably grained cocobolo body . The sturdily constructed mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard provides excellent playability over all 20 frets thanks to its user-friendly profile. The 648 mm scale length , the 44.45 mm nut width and a cutaway ensure that even difficult fingerings are easily mastered by the player. The guitar is equipped with a natural sounding ES-2 Expression pickup system and comes in a sturdy brown Taylor case .
In contrast to the standard series, the Taylor 814ce LTD comes with a solid Lutz spruce top . This mixture of Sitka spruce and white spruce produces a very clear and powerful sound image, that is especially assertive and precise in the high frequencies. The tender, pale appearance of the Lutz spruce provides a very aesthetic contrast to the other woods of this limited edition guitar. Surrounded by a discreet binding , the top wood also harmonizes very well with the mother of pearl soundhole rosette and the ebony bridge . A wafer-thin finish allows the observer a deep insight into the fine grain of the wood and enhances the distinctive dynamics of the already strongly vibrating spruce wood.
To give the instrument a versatile and balanced sound, the manufacturer uses a beautifully grained cocobolo wood for the body. This tropical wood transports especially expressive basses and allows very quick and easy response , which harmonizes perfectly with the spruce top . The coarse grain in particular makes it clear that great attention was paid to the visual appearance of the woods when selecting them. The unfolded wood is not only symmetrical but also shows off the individual enclosures and colour variations in a very aesthetic way.
A typical feature of Taylor instruments is the easily playable neck , which is mounted at a perfect angle to the body. An ebony fretboard is attached to the sturdy mahogany neck , which is fitted with the "Element" inlays designed for the 800 series. Thanks to the cutaway and the flat neck profile , the 20 frets are extremely easy to play and intonate perfectly in all positions. To ensure sustain and punch, the guitar comes with a compensated Micarta saddle , a GraphTech TUSQ nut and the newly developed V-Class Bracing , which allows the top to vibrate in two dimensions. Golden tuners allow the player to tune precisely and decorate the dark, flower-ornamented headstock . A natural-sounding Taylor ES-2 Expression pickup system completes the features of this versatile instrument and guarantees smooth operation even on stage. The guitar comes in a moulded case .
