Fender AS Jaco Pastorius J-Bass F/L RW 3 Tone Sunburst
The Fender Jaco Pastorius Tribute Jazz Bass 3-Color Sunburst is a recreation of the legendary "Bass of Doom", authentic down to the smallest detail, developed in collaboration with Pastorius' bass technicians. Accordingly, this bass features an alder body, covered under the lovingly crafted Relic finish, whereas the maple neck carries a fretless rosewood fretboard with fret lines. Furthermore Fender Custom Shop single-coils provide versatile sounds with authentic vintage character and historically correct hardware.
Just like the "Bass of Doom" from 1962, the Fender Jaco Pastorius Tribute Bass features an alder body which, thanks to the typical offset design, ensures a stable playing position. The bolt-on maple neck features the characteristic, extremely slim "C" profile that fits comfortably in the hand. The fretless rosewood fretboard furthermore has fret lines to mark the positions and is sealed with epoxy resin like Jaco's Original.
For the authentic Jaco sound, the Fender Jaco Pastorius Tribute Jazz Bass is equipped with two Fender Custom Shop '60s Jazz Bass single-coils. These single coils capture the indulgent sound development and velvety sustain of the fretless bass with natural dynamics and harmony, making sure nothing stands in the way of expressive electric bass playing. The classic passive electronics with individual volume controls and a tone pot allow for a wide range of tones with distinctive assertiveness.
The hardware equipment of the Fender Jaco Pastorius Tribute Jazz Bass matches the specifications of the legendary original as well. A Fender American Vintage bass bridge sits on the body, where its four string saddles guarantee precise adjustment of intonation and string action. From here, the strings are guided towards the headstock with the traditional 34" long scale length (864 mm), where historically correct Fender Vintage style reverse gear tuners ensure stable tuning. Like the original Bass of Doom, the Fender Jaco Pastorius Tribute Jazz Bass does without the classic pickguard and only comes with the control plate for the electronics.
