The Meinl Tongo Carved Djembe DJTC1-L, 12" is a true gem among percussion instruments. All of the hand craftsmanship that goes into building this Djembe makes it something truly special. The body is carved from a single piece of mahogany wood. Mahogany is a very precious wood, which next to its obviously visual appeal, creates an instrument that also impresses with unique resonating characteristics.
To do this high-quality raw material justice, all of the construction processes are completed by hand - from carving to stringing. Here and there you can find evidence of the marks left by the craftsman's tools, adding to the visual appeal.
The traditional "Mali Weave" chord tuning adds to this optical effect. The special shape of the upper body guarantees that the traditional "Mali Weave" chord tuning system with its 30 runners of 5mm thick nylon rope offers great tuning stability. The underside of the Meinl Tongo Carved Djembe DJTC1-L is equipped with a rubber ring to protect the instrument.
