The PRS Private Stock #9085 Santana Retro 1980 Santana Yellow is an authentic replica of the first "Pre-Factory" Santana model from 1980. Following the concept of the Private Stock, only the highest quality materials are used, so that this electric guitar features the liveliest sound possible and an impressive appearance. The neck and body are made of high-quality mahogany, which is surrounded by a solid flamed maple top and an African Blackwood fretboard, whereas the pre-factory style inlays are made of abalone. With the classic PRS HFS humbucker on the bridge and a PRS 85/15 LT TCI pickup on the neck, the PRS Private Stock Santana Retro 1980 delivers dynamic clean and creamy overdrive sounds for endless guitar solos. Last but not least, a classic hardware configuration with PRS Gen II tremolo and Phase III locking tuners completes the PRS Private Stock #9085 Santana Retro 1980 Santana Yellow.
For the construction of the 1980 PRS Private Stock Santana Retro, Paul Reed Smith used carefully selected woods in addition to the thin, resonant nitro finish, which supports a warm sound with singing sustain. The body and glued neck of the PRS Santana are made of mahogany, whereas the solid flamed maple top in Private Stock quality is characterised by a particularly intense and even flame. The Santana neck profile, which is not too strong, also promises extremely comfortable playability up to the 24th fret of the African Blackwood fretboard.
The guitar makers of the Private Stock chose two absolute classics from the PRS range as pickups for the PRS Santana Retro 1980, with which this electric guitar delivers multi-faceted vintage sounds. The powerful PRS HFS humbucker on the bridge provides brilliant clean lines and extremely hot overdrive sounds with high assertiveness. At the neck, on the other hand, the PRS 58/15 LT humbucker promises authentic vintage sounds with an airy midrange spectrum that makes every note sing. The historically correct Santana circuitry with a volume control and two mini toggles also gives you control over the sound.
Naturally a high-quality hardware equipment completes the PRS Private Stock #9085 Santana Retro 1980 Santana Yellow. The proven PRS Gen II tremolo is used as a bridge here. It is particularly smooth to the touch and adorns each solo with iridescent vibratos. Thanks to its carefully rounded edges and smooth surfaces, it also offers the hand a comfortable support when damping the strings. The PRS Private Stock Santana is also equipped with PRS Phase III locking tuners to keep the tuning stable and accurate even with frequent use of the vibrato arm.
