The Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch WBS42S in Transparent Mocha Fade is a professional shell set with hybrid walnut/birch shells. The innovative material combination of walnut and birch produces a modern, warm sound with a very high bass content, which is additionally clear and articulated. Tama's all-rounder drums feature the legendary Starclassic shell hardware, which convinces with the Star Cast Mounting System, cast iron hoops and padded Floor-Tom legs. In combination with the Evans heads and the Starclassic lugs, a contemporary drum set with a modem sound and impressive lacquer finish is created.
All shells of the Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch series are a hybrid of American Walnut and European Birch. The bass drum consists of a total of 7 layers (5 layers birch + 2 inner layers walnut), the toms consist of 6 layers (4 layers birch + 2 inner layers walnut). After a long period of research, Tama was able to achieve the most modern sound with this combination, covering all musical styles. The predominant feature of this sound is the high bass content caused by the two layers of walnut. Birch wood gives the complex frequency mix a concise clarity and an assertive attack. In addition, the inside of the shells is painted, which further focuses the sound.
The die-cast zinc hoops are extremely solid and emphasize the sound. In addition, they optimize the contact between the tuning rod and the hoop and thus ensure tuning security and stability. The bass drum claws of the Starclassic Walnut/Birch drums have rubber pads that protect the hoop and improve the resonance behaviour of the bass drum. The Floor-Tom legs are air-padded and the tried and tested Starcast Mounting System ensures that the shells vibrate unhindered and the sound unfolds perfectly. The Starclassic lugs are extremely stable and perfectly suited for everyday touring. From the factory the toms and floor toms are equipped with Evans G2 clear heads. On the bass drum there is an Evans EQ4 head with damper ring, so that nothing stands in the way of you enjoying to play this amazing kit.
