The Tama TW42RZS-ASCS STAR Walnut Shell-Set with Satin Charcoal Japanese Sen Finish is a professional high-end Tama drum set, which is built in Japan in laborious manual work. The walnut shells produce a deep, balanced and clear basic tone that can hardly be surpassed. The grey veneer finish of the Tama STAR Walnut rounds off the overall picture in a very harmonious and contemporary way.
While the hardware and all features of each drum series are subject to an eternal test bench, the shell designs and materials often remain untouched.
To get a fresh breeze into the noblest of all Tama drums, the Star series offers a completely new set of walnut. Walnut has a very concise, attack-rich basic character with little sustain.
The relatively hard wood, which is also used in furniture construction, is used in 7 layers for the BassDrum and 6 layers for the TomToms. This results in a relatively thin shell thickness of 6 or 5mm, which elicits the best possible sound from the beautiful, coarse-pored wood.

The Star Walnut ShellSets also use the unique Star bearing edge which results in the best possible transfer behaviour between shell and head. More rounded than other bearing edges, the head effectively transmits any vibration to the shell. Tamas Super Resonant Mounting System ensures almost free sound development of the noble drums by the minimal contact between the shell and the hardware. For this the system contacts the TomToms at only three balanced points, which also support the resonance by rubber coating. The remaining shell hardware is also extremely lightweight and relies on minimal contact. The air holes are covered with wood instead of metal and the badges are carefully engraved. Dimensionally stable cast iron hoops and so-called Hold Tight washers ensure a reliable and durable tuning of the supplied Remo heads.
Quick-Lock Tom and FloorTom clamps make it much easier to set up and remove Tama Star drums. In addition, the unique design of the clamps eliminates the need for memory locks, as the position clamp remains clamped to the holder or the FloorTom leg. In addition, the non-rigid connection of the Quick Lock suspensions allows an unprecedented freedom of vibration in the Star FloorToms, which is further intensified by the specially padded feet.
