What are the specifications of the Camden EC1?

The Cranborne Audio Camden EC1 is a combination headphone amplifier, line mixer and preamp that meets the highest technical demands while being versatile. The microphone channel is one of Camden's award-winning preamps complete with Mojo function, while the headphone output can be used to mix the amplifier signal, an external source and a stereo aux path continuously. This makes the EC1 eg. suitable as an active DI box and monitor amplifier for a guitarist or as a microphone preamp for the singer, which can be placed directly by the microphone. This solves the two problems of long cable runs and monitoring over headphones at the same time. The EC1 is also a moderately priced single-channel solution for demanding home recording.

How does the Camden EC1 sound?

Both the preamps and the headphone output score with industry-unique electrical values, an extremely linear frequency response, low phase shift, and low noise and distortion values, resulting in a clean and clear soundstage with punchy bass response and complete transients. The switchable Mojo function gives you the ability to color your signal in a controlled manner: The Thump position is based on the sound of British recording desks and the Cream position on the even older tube preamps of the 50s. Unlike these sought-after, one-sided and expensive classics, you get remarkable versatility with the Camden.

What does the C.A.S.T. interface do?

As with all Cranborne Audio products, the complete cabling of the EC1 can be done over standard CAT5 (or better Cat 6 or Cat7) cables (C.A.S.T.). This way you can achieve lossless audio transmission due to the high demands CAT cables have to meet, and at the same time you can use cost-effective cable material.
