KeyLab mk3 | Universal MIDI controller | ARTURIA

Master Keyboard Controller by Arturia

The KeyLab Mk3 88 from Arturia is a fully-featured USB master keyboard controller that packs an arpeggiator, twelve pads, nine touch-sensitive knobs, nine faders and Chord Mode into a compact space. The third generation of the KeyLab impresses with a high-quality combination of aluminium and wood components, whilst looking both elegant and futuristic. New to the Mk3 is the large, high-resolution colour display, which can be controlled via eight context-sensitive buttons. The superbly crafted keyboard features a fully weighted 88-key action that offers a pleasantly responsive feel and even produces aftertouch. The KeyLab Mk3 is therefore equally suited for use on stage, in the home studio and wherever a high-quality keyboard (Fatar TP/110) and durability are required. The twelve velocity-sensitive pads are ideal for triggering drums and samples. The built-in arpeggiator can be controlled directly via the keyboard, offering a range of playback patterns and advanced randomisation functions. It also features an integrated chord function that allows you to play entire chords with just one finger. Thanks to the transport function, you can control global functions of a DAW, such as start/stop and recording, directly from the KeyLab Mk3. With the Mk3, Arturia has placed the utmost emphasis on comprehensive DAW integration, incorporating MCU and HUI protocols as well as intelligent mapping technology. As a result, the controller comes factory-configured for use with Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Cubase, FL Studio, Reaper, Pro Tools, Bitwig, Studio One and Digital Performer, amongst others. Settings can be adjusted directly on the device or via the supplied software.

Connections

On the rear panel, alongside the pedal inputs for sustain, expression and two aux inputs (switches/buttons), you’ll also find the MIDI inputs and outputs. These can be used to play other instruments, such as those without their own keyboard. Conversely, this allows you, for example, to integrate a dedicated MIDI sequencer into your DAW setup or to save data backups from synthesisers onto your computer. The arpeggiator can also be activated via this output. The data connection to the computer is via USB-C. As an alternative to the USB-C connection, the KeyLab Mk3 can be powered by an external mains adaptor when used purely as a MIDI master keyboard.

Free software package

The manufacturer provides a comprehensive downloadable software package free of charge with the KeyLab Mk3 88. Please refer to the Arturia website for details of updates and compatibility with Windows and Mac systems, as well as DAWs.
