Ortega RUET-SMA

The Ortega RUET-SMA features striking split maple, giving it a unique look and delivering a powerful sound. Thanks to its solid top, each note rings out quickly and clearly, making this concert ukulele perfect for both fingerpicking and strumming. The flat neck, combined with a subtle cutaway, ensures extremely comfortable access to all frets. Additionally, the direct tuning mechanism provides precise tuning of the four nylon strings, which stay perfectly in tune thanks to well-matched hardware. To amplify its natural acoustic tone, the instrument is equipped with an in-house pickup system. Visually, the ukulele is enhanced by intricate inlay work and a wafer-thin high-gloss finish. A sturdy gig bag is included for safe transport.

Construction and woods

The medium-sized concert body delivers a well-balanced sound, making this ukulele versatile for many playing styles. The solid split maple top and laminated split maple body add warmth and richness to the tone. A subtle cutaway on the body provides easy access to the higher frets. The mahogany neck, with its flat profile, offers a comfortable grip, while the walnut fingerboard and bridge complete the instrument with quality and durability.

Hardware and design

To ensure that all 18 frets sound clean, the saddle and the 36 mm nut are precisely aligned. The strings have a scale length of 380 mm and can be tuned precisely with the help of matte black GraphTech Ratio tuners. To emphasize the striking grain of the tonewoods used, the body is framed with a filigree wood binding, which harmonizes perfectly with the soundhole rosette. Fine abalone applications are worked into the rosette. The fretboard is decorated with a large tree-of-life inlay made of abalone, which extends from the 1st to the 18th fret.

Electronics

The built-in Ortega MagusFly pickup transmits the acoustic sound unaltered and directly to the respective amplifier. Meanwhile, the control unit is elegantly hidden in the sound hole and has a volume and a tone control. The active system is powered by a rechargeable battery, so there's no need for annoying battery changes.
