The Blackstar BEAM Mini is far more than just a small, compact amplifier. Rather, it is a complete media station that offers many practical functions for practising, jamming and much more, all within an astonishingly compact chassis. With 16 different amplifier types for electric guitar, acoustic guitar and bass, over 35 effects and two full-range speakers with a total output of 12 watts, the Blackstar BEAM Mini is a thoroughly capable amplifier that has a few useful tricks up its sleeve compared to many conventional practice amplifiers.
The Blackstar Beam Mini is the first compact guitar amplifier to support Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) technology, which is based on artificial intelligence. Unlike conventional amp-modelling systems, which merely replicate the sound of well-known amplifiers and effects, NAM creates a detailed digital representation of complete signal paths. This captures not only amplifiers, but also speaker cabinets, microphone set-ups and even upstream overdrive or distortion pedals. The technology is based on an open-source standard that is freely accessible to a broad user base. Furthermore, Blackstar collaborates with TONE3000 – one of the world’s largest platforms for community-created NAM presets.
The Blackstar Beam Mini also offers another innovative feature: thanks to the integrated Moises AI Stem Separation, individual instrument tracks can be selectively separated from existing pieces of music. For example, the guitar track of a song can be muted so that the track can be used as a play-along for your own practice with minimal effort. However, this feature is not yet available. According to Blackstar, Moises AI Stem Separation will be released as part of a planned software update in August.
