CV/Gate & MIDI Controller with expressive playing techniques

With the A-198-2, Doepfer introduces the second generation of its popular Eurorack ribbon controller, featuring an expanded range of functions. The ribbon controller itself is a much-loved classic amongst synthesiser controllers, as it enables a particularly expressive way of playing notes and modulating parameters.

Like the first version, Version 2 generates a total of four signals from the Manual pressure sensor: CV1 for position, CV2 for pressure, Gate1 for continuous gate and Gate2 with an adjustable pressure point. A new addition is the integrated quantiser with nine overwritable musical scales. This makes it much easier to play with specific note values.

Various parameters, such as the voltage range of CV1, the threshold of Gate2, the orientation of the Manual, and all MIDI settings, can be adjusted via the menu. The quantiser and the retrigger function can be switched on or off on the module itself or via Gate. Instead of the retrigger input, the socket can be used as an optional MIDI output; this requires a MIDI-TRS adapter, which is available separately. The A-198-2 can therefore also be used without any problems to control MIDI expanders.

This product comprises the A-198-2 controller module and a 50 cm long pressure-sensitive manual. The manual is also compatible with the predecessor model, the A-198, and the MIDI version, the R2M.
