The Sonnet Echo II DV TB5 Expansion Module is a Thunderbolt-to-PCIe card expansion unit with two independent PCIe 4.0 slots, designed for demanding digital video applications. With its support for high-performance DV I/O cards, it enables the full bandwidth of modern M-series Macs and other Thunderbolt 4/3-compatible computers to be utilised. Each of the two PCIe slots has its own Thunderbolt interface, allowing even bandwidth-intensive cards such as the DeckLink 8K to be used to their full potential.
Even on computers with just one Thunderbolt port, the module can be used thanks to its integrated daisy-chaining function . The four Thunderbolt 3 ports offer flexible connectivity options, with two of the ports specifically reserved for connection to the host computer. An integrated 400 W power supply with two 75 W auxiliary connections ensures that even high-performance PCIe cards, such as the AJA Kona 5 or the Blackmagic DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G, can be operated reliably.
Quiet operation is ensured by two temperature-controlled Noctua fans, which operate at variable speeds and produce a low noise level of just 17 dBA. With a maximum data transfer rate of up to 6,000 MB/s on Thunderbolt 5 computers, the Echo II DV Expansion Module guarantees top performance for demanding workflows. Thanks to its automatic power-on and power-off function, the device conveniently synchronises with the connected computer.
