As a result of accurate laser scans of original instruments of the era with detailed colour values of the Sunburst-Finish and chemical analysis of the composition of individual plastic components, the 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS is far more than a mere tribute instrument but sees itself as an exact copy of the prototype. Of course, the Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Washed Cherry Sunburst comes as a genuine Custom Shop instrument in the original Lifton Hardshell Case and including a certificate of authenticity.
Authentic mahogany construction
Of course, the original tonewood combination of the Gibson Les Paul is used for the Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Washed Cherry Sunburst. So the solid mahogany body without weight relief is finished with a two-piece curly maple top and a classic Royalite binding, and connected to the usual strong '50s Rounded Medium C mahogany neck via a long neck heel (Long Neck Tenon). Authentic Hide Glue is used for all glueing, creating the tried and tested resonant glue joints of the '59 Les Paul.

The two custom humbuckers on the Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Washed Cherry Sunburst are controlled by real CTS potentiometers with historically accurate paper-in-oil capacitors.
Custombucker with Alnico III magnets
The two Gibson Custombucker pickups are probably the most accurate replicas of the coveted 'Patent-Applied-For' humbuckers - or P.A.F. for short. Known for their warm and full character, the dual coils rely on historically correct Alnico III magnets and, like the prototype, are not waxed. The also classically kept electrical layout, on the other hand, is composed of CTS pots for Volume and Tone, Paper-in-Oil capacitors and a high-quality Switchcraft USA output jack.
The six Kluson machine heads of the Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Washed Cherry Sunburst #932676 feature single-line bodies and single-ring action wings in keeping with the specifications of the '59 Paula.
Classic Hardware & authentic plastic parts
Of course, on an official '59 Les Paul the successful combination of a versatile adjustable and resonant Gibson ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge and an aluminum stop bar should not be missing. Also true to the original are the six Klusonmachine heads with historically accurate single-line housing and single-ring pianos corresponding to the era. The plastic parts in the form of the M69 humbucker frames, the pickguard and the 'Poker Chip' are also made of cellulose acetate butyrate, following the original.
