The Pearl HEK-1450 Kapur/Fibreglass is a 14" x 5" Snare Drum, with a 3mm Kapur and Fibreglass Shell. Pearl proudly presents the result of experiments combing new materials and technology in an impressive manner to create interesting instruments:
The Hybrid Exotic Snare Drums: Three different versions in conventional sizes 14"x6.5", 14"x5.5" and 14"x8" make up this brand new series which is sure to send shock waves through the world of snare drums.
Exotic Materials: Pearl has already made their first experiences with the Kapur-Fibreglass mix in 1970 and is falling back on the composition for the Hybrid Exotic Snare Drum series. Kapur is an exotic wood from Indonesia with an especially rich low-end, which is reinforced by a middle layer of fibreglass. This creates a shell with a sensationally warm ground sound with a ton of power and massive attack.
High-End Shell Hardware: The hardware of the Hybrid Exotic Snare Drums includes the popular Pearl Elements that bring the ideal sound results from their shells. Super Hoop II, STL-100 lugs, SR-1000 throw-off, everything in chrome, adorn the dark shell matching the look to the sound. The lugs of the Hybrid Exotic Snare Drums feature something special. Housed inside each of them is another lug. Similarly to a conventional dowel, this lug holds the screw together with the head and hoop in place without compromise giving the drum absolute tuning stability.
